The scheme is an employment safety screening check designed to protect the safety and wellbeing of Victorians with a disability.
From 1 November 2017, the scheme will be expanded to include all disability services, including providers that provide disability services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) which are registered under the Disability Act.
This means that all disability service providers will need to screen all potential and existing disability workers, not only those working in residential services.
The expanded scheme is part of the government’s response to the Parliamentary inquiry into abuse in disability services, and its approach to strengthening safeguards for people with a disability during the transition to the NDIS.
