Reminder: Community visitors and Client incident reports

If a community visitor requests a client incident report, service providers are required to provide it.

Community visitors play an important role in ensuring the safety and advancing the quality of residential services. Under the Disability Act 2006, community visitors can require a disability service provider to take appropriate actions to address issues or concerns relating to quality of support provided to its residents.

Community Visitors have legal authority to inspect any document related to a person living in a residential service which is not a medical record, and any records required to be kept by, or under the Disability Act. This includes client incident reports.

If a community visitor requests a client incident report, service providers are required to provide it.
