Aboriginal health funding changes

9 July 2020
A new fact sheet has been published outlining the changes to Aboriginal health funding to Victorian acute health services (hospitals).

The Aboriginal health funding approach replaces the former 30 per cent Aboriginal Weighted Inlier Equivalent Separations (WIES) loading and is designed to strengthen Aboriginal cultural safety and improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people attending Victorian public hospitals.

The Aboriginal health funding changes fact sheet provides health service executives, Aboriginal health service managers and Aboriginal health employees within hospitals and Aboriginal community-controlled health organisations (ACCHOS) with information on the changes to Aboriginal health funding, cultural safety and performance and accountability requirements.
