The benefits of employing a Youth Employment Scheme trainee

Funded organisations of DHHS are eligible for a Youth Employment Scheme Subsidy of $4,500 for each placed trainee.

The Jobs Victoria Youth Employment and Cadetship Scheme (YES/YCS) provides an opportunity for young people who have experienced disadvantage and barriers to employment.

Trainees are employed full-time for 12 months while completing a Certificate III or IV in a related field of study aligned with their role.

Funded organisations of DHHS are eligible for Youth Employment Scheme Subsidy Funding of $4,500 for each trainee placed in your business.

The programs: 

  • Create a pipeline of new talent into your business
  • Contribute to the creation of a more diverse and inclusive work places
  • Strengthen workforce and succession planning
  • Provide managers with an opportunity to mentor and develop young people and support them to pursue a meaningful career.

All managers in the Victorian Public Service and public sector agencies are encouraged to participate in the schemes and take advantage of the opportunities it presents.
