Child protection: information and advice for sector partners during COVID-19

30 March 2020
The safety and wellbeing of vulnerable children and our staff is a shared responsibility of us all. The department and the sector must develop new ways of working in the context of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

We have prepared a fact sheet for sector partners about changes to the way in which child protection practitioners are working during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This information will help provide clarity for practitioners and sector partners.

In summary, the department will communicate with sector partners regarding individual children and families, and on broader planning as the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic deepens.  Child protection will direct its workforce to respond to children at imminent risk who require a statutory or emergency response.  As much as possible, child protection work will be managed remotely, however, the ability to outreach to those at most imminent risk will be retained.
