New departments now in place to deliver healthier and fairer Victoria

13 April 2021
The Department of Health and Human Services has now separated into two new departments - the Department of Health (DH) and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH).

The new departments will focus on our health system and on social services provided to families across Victoria.

The new DFFH will receive functions from the Department of Premier and Cabinet, including multicultural affairs, LGBTQI and Equality, Veterans, and the offices for Women and Youth.

While the transition will take time, everybody is committed to making sure the process is as smooth as possible for staff, service providers, partners, and the Victorian community.  The two departments will continue to work closely to strive for better outcomes for Victorians. Our focus is on delivering the best services across Victoria, today and into the future and this change is key to meeting the challenges of the future. This change was announced by the Premier of 30 November 2020, with the two new departments commencing on 1 February 2021.
